Microsoft is improving Windows’ built-in apps. This includes the Snipping Tool, Calculator, Mail, and Calendar to make them fit the Windows 11 style.
Microsoft will be releasing updates to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, where they can test the touch-ups.
Microsoft will make Snipping Tool a new app that will replace both the old Snipping Tool and the Snip & Sketch apps. The new tool will introduce a dedicated settings page, quick access to capture presets, and new editing tools for mark up screenshots.
As mentioned, the apps will be updated to fit in with the theme of Windows 11. This also includes having Dark mode support in all of these apps, making it even more visually appealing for users going for dark mode.
Interestingly, Microsoft also rewrote the Calculator in C#, allowing developers to improve it through GitHub.
Windows 11 testers can also now try audio or video calling in Microsoft Teams.
There are other updates to look forward to in Windows 11 before it becomes official, as its expected release, in October.
