VentureBeat reported that Microsoft is discussing acquiring Discord at the price of over USD 10 billion.
“I know they are in active discussions with a select few parties,” a source bared to VentureBeat. “The market is in a state where they could command strong double-digit billions of dollars.”
According to Bloomberg, it’s possible, as the company “continues to reshape its gaming business more toward software and services.”
Discord is a channel-based instant messaging app that allows users to communicate through video, voice, and text. It’s a free service platform that offers a USD 9.99 monthly subscription service to access more perks.
Discord has been reaching out to potential buyers, and Microsoft is among them. According to one of the report’s sources, however, Discord can also opt to go public than sell itself.
So far, both Microsoft and Discord have not provided a comment to confirm these reports.
