President Rodrigo Roa Duterte commended Globe Telecom for their inestimable efforts in contributing to the telecommunication industry and on the improvement of the internet connectivity.

In the speech delivered by the Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar last September 22 in the Davao City during the launching of SEA-US Cable Commercial System, President Duterte thanked Globe Telecom for being the first cable submarine system to be implanted in Davao City.

This system is believed to create economic and social growth in development for the Davao Region, we well as in Mindanao, by means of generating more investments, jobs, and opportunities for the people within the affected areas.

The Chief Executive encouraged not just the public and private sectors, but the government as well to work together and do their duties in terms of pursuing more initiatives for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry.

“I assure you that the government will do its part by pursuing more initiatives for the ICT industry. I encourage the private sector to do the same and join this administration in ensuring that our people can harness the power of the internet to realize their full potential,” he said.

The SEA-US cable system is connected to the Globe cable landing station in Brgy. Talomo, Davao City. Outside of Luzon, the undersea cable is the first direct connection of Globe to the United States via Guam, Hawaii, and California.
