New job ad hints PlayStation games to be made available on mobile platforms

After Sony’s announcement of shutting down its PS3 online game store, the company plans to bring its PlayStation game titles to Android and iOS platforms.

The news was brought up by Eurogamer, reporting that a “Head of Mobile” in PlayStation was put in the job listing. The job position is described as follows: “As Head of Mobile, you will own and develop the mobile game’s strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities.”

“You will lead all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile,” it adds.

This indicates that Sony is branching into the mobile gaming industry, intending to become a multi-platform developer on hardware.

Of course, this will not happen overnight. The job advertisement states developing a roadmap will take about three to five years. But this puts up anticipation for mobile-only gamers with the prospect of being able to access PlayStation games in the future.
