Providing micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises the means to adapt to the ‘new normal’ where digital payments are seen to be widely-used, PayMaya, the digital financial services arm of PLDT launched the PayMaya Negosyo app.

Through this, merchants may now opt to seamlessly and conveniently use QR and online payments which they can receive in just one to two days.

Even without a dedicated website for their business, MSME owners may use the PayMaya Negosyo app may accept digital payments from PayMaya users via PayMaya QR, receive payments from upgraded PayMaya users through the ‘Send Money’ function of the app, as well as process bank payments from Insta-Pay participating bank and e-wallet in the Philippines.

Merchant owners may also promote and share their PayMaya Negosyo app QR code on their respective social media pages and chat apps. Customers may opt to just scan the said code to process their online payments.

Interested MSME owners may sign up through the PayMaya Negosyo app via their mobile number, along with a valid government-issued ID and a video selfie. Approval of applications will take 48 hours at most.

According to Shailesh Baidwan, PayMaya President, the PayMaya Negosyo App connects MSME owners to customers who prefer online shopping and cashless payments.

“PayMaya Negosyo will give our MSMEs the easiest and fastest way to accept digital payments from across a variety of sources–all they need now is their smartphone and a valid ID,” he said.

In line with the rapid spread of COVID-19 with its virus proven to linger on surfaces for days, authorities have since encouraged the use of contactless payments.

The PayMaya Negosyo app empowers merchants to still continue business operations by accepting payments even from those without PayMaya accounts, as long as they have sufficient funds on other banks and e-wallet providers.

Payments received through the PayMaya Negosyo app can also be easily transferred to other respective bank accounts through Instapay.

PayMaya Negosyo app users also have an account limit of PHP 250,000 for upgraded users, higher than that of PayMaya consumer app account holders which is PHP 100,000.
