Starting this year, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will soon roll out driver’s license cards with a 10-year validity to motorists with clean records.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), this new LTO driver’s license aims to encourage motorists to observe road safety and to reduce road accidents in the long run.
“The license is no longer a paper – It’s a card now! Now, there is no backlog on driver’s licenses!” announced DOTr Secretary Art Tugade in a Facebook post.
Tugade also said the agency addressed the backlog on driver’s licenses. About 27 million driver’s license cards and permits were issued from July 2016 to March 30, 2021.
“Its security features have also been added so that the abusers will not be completely copied,” he added.
