Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) facilitated its mobile app ikotMNL with its new contact tracing feature through Bluetooth LE technology that allows detection of other passengers nearby in LRT-1.
Automated and privacy-first by design, the feature also facilitates contact tracing capabilities as anyone who may come into close contact with a fellow passenger who tags himself as diagnosed positive with COVID-19 will be notified by government authorities.
In furthering its efforts, LRMC also partnered with Sakay.ph for more natural trip planning, efficient navigation, and safest commute directions in the metro. Through the integration of the ikotMNL app with Sakay.ph, commuters will receive complete information on their destinations when taking LRT-1 along and other modes of transport.
“We continue to challenge ourselves every day on what we can do for the Filipino commuter. By leveraging on technology and exploring innovative solutions, we hope to continue raising the bar for rail transport in the Philippines and achieve our vision of integrated mobility,” said LRMC President and CEO Juan F. Alfonso.
The ikotMNL app’s latest features are scheduled to go live by August 2020.
ikotMNL app is available for download for free on the App Store and Google Play.
