The Lyceum of the Philippines University, Manila Campus (LPU Manila), officially opened up its Bachelor of Science in Esports degree years after its announcement.
Contrary to popular belief, the Bachelor of Science in Esports degree doesn’t teach you about becoming a gaming athlete.
Developed with partner Tier One Entertainment, the curriculum focuses on the back-end or business of Esports. This four-year course has two tracks: Esports Management and Game Design and Development.
Esports Management covers basic concepts of Esports management that teach students about management and organization, planning and team management, and business skills. The best example is putting up a game tourney both offline or online.
Meanwhile, Game Design and Development covers the concepts and techniques in design and development under Esports. It teaches students how to develop a game that delivers fitting in the Esports stage. Alternatively, this opens up creativity and inventiveness in game design and development for students inspired to create games for Esport level.
LPU Manila is also offering a 2-year Associate Degree in Esports and Game Design.
