GCash cash-ins via 7-Eleven charges

GCash customers will need to pay a fee when cashing in via 7-Eleven starting May 17.

Previously, customers can deposit money in their GCash accounts via 7-Eleven free of charge. Starting May 17, however, the convenience store chain announced it’ll be charging a 1% convenience fee for every cash-ins via 7-Eleven.

As of late April, about 40 million users are using GCash, surpassing international apps like Spotify and Viber.

Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest L. Cu expect digital transactions will double this year, as more Filipinos rely on digital payment systems.
