Third major telco player DITO Telecommunity passed its third performance audit and has delivered more than what it has committed in terms of network coverage and internet speeds, according to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
A report by an independent auditor noted that DITO tallied a population coverage of 72.39 percent, while its minimum average broadband speeds reached 71.77 Mbps for 4G and 809.19 Mbps for 5G.
DITO initially committed a coverage of 70.01 percent and a broadband speed of 55 Mbps.
“DITO expressed satisfaction with the recent advice from the NTC that it has passed the third technical audit as required in the CPCN,” said DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano.
“We continue to abide by – and even exceed – our commitments to the government to improve speed and coverage in the telco sector and bring real competition for the benefit of Filipino consumers,” he added, noting that the telco will remain committed to provide “world-class connectivity” to the Philippines.
In late August, DITO reached 12 million subscribers, four months after its commercial launch. The telco has expanded its network footprint with more than 5,500 cellular towers as of writing.
