Disney announced two upcoming films, “Free Guy” and “Shang-Chi” to release as 45-day theater exclusives, not as Disney+ premium add-ons.
An American science fiction action comedy film, Free Guy follows a non-player character (NPC) working as a bank teller who becomes aware of his world being a video game and takes it upon himself to be the hero instead. It will go live on August 13, 2021.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a superhero film by Marvel featuring Kung-Fu martial artist Shang-Chi specialized in a variety of hand-to-hand and weaponry-based wushu styles. The film will arrive by September 3, 2021.
Disney’s decision is based on reviving consumers’ interest in movie-theaters amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
