ABS-CBN non-renewal of franchise is far from over — Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo said Congress’ rejection to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise is far from over, adding that the Filipino people can tell whether the decision was fair and impartial or not.

“This is not yet over because there is push-back from the people,” Robredo stressed.

The House Committee on Legislative Franchise had voted for a non-renewal of the franchise application of ABS-CBN following the recommendation of its Technical Working Group last July 10.

Robredo pointed out that employees working in ABS-CBN are in danger of going unemployed in the middle of the pandemic.

“It’s not oneself is at stake here, but the entire country. It seems you personally lost someone because a lot of small people will suffer,” she lamented.

The media network, while closed off and prohibited from broadcasting its channel, continues to stream live online on Youtube, Facebook, and its official website for TV Patrol.
