YouTube finally announced to implement age restrictions on the video content on its platform.

Users will require to log in to determine if they are 18 or older to view these age-restricted videos. Underage users will be redirected to appropriate content. The feature also applies third-party websites with embedded youtube videos.

YouTube’s Trust & Safety team handles and monitors users trying to access age-inappropriate content. The company, however, intends to tap on machine learning to detect content and to apply age restrictions automatically. Creators can appeal to the decision if they believe their content was incorrectly used.

This feature will soon launch on mobile and browser by the coming months.
