YouTube announced it would also be putting Discord’s most popular in-app music streaming service, Rythm bot, offline. This is after Youtube directed the developers to switch off Groovy bot in Discord last month.
According to The Verge, YouTube issued a “cease and desist” order to the developers of Rythm bot. In response, the owners of the bot said it would shut the service off by September 15.
“We knew this was due to happen eventually. Groovy receiving one just meant it would happen sooner rather than later,” said Yoav, developer of Rythm bot. He added that all other music bots still up and running would eventually shut down if requested.
However, Discord and YouTube seem to be working on making up for users needing to stream their favorite music or video through its platform. At least, an upcoming YouTube watch party service will let users watch YouTube content inside Discord officially. But there’s yet an announcement as to when this feature will launch.
