WhatsApp brings terrible news for millions of people as the instant messaging app will stop providing support for dated smartphones by 2021.

With that, there’s a likely chance that WhatsApp will not function on older phone models next year since they don’t have updated software.

People who use WhatsApp for work or personal communication have two weeks to make sure that they have compatible devices.

Android users who don’t have at least the 4.0.3 version will not be able to use WhatsApp. This applies to Android phones such as the Motorola Droid Razr and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

iOS users, meanwhile, must have at least iOS 9. This means Whatsapp will no longer be compatible with iPhone 4 and older iPhone versions.

To check if your Android smartphone is compatible with WhatApp, go to “Settings” then “About Phone”. Apple users, on the other hand, should proceed to “General” and then “About” to check the current software version.
