In celebrating its 7th anniversary, Telegram launched the alpha version of the video calling feature plus extra animated emojis to the platform both available on Android and iOS.
Telegram users can begin using the video calling feature from a contact’s profile page, which can be switched at any time. The feature also supports picture-in-picture mode that allows users to scroll through chats and multitask while maintaining eye contact. As among the most secure messaging service, Telegram’s video calling feature is also protected with end-to-end encryption.
To determine whether or not users are connected and secured in a video call, the four emoji shown on their screens should match.
As for the animated emojis, users can simply receive them by sending a message with a single emoji.
Telegram also teased it will provide additional features and improvements in the future, which will soon launch group video calls as well.
