Technical difficulties marred the launch of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) school readiness program, hinting like a bad omen as school opening on August 24 approaches.

Livestreamed on DepEd Facebook pages, government, and local partner TV channels, “Handang Isip, Handa Bukas” school readiness program was aimed to give a better understanding of the preparations and new procedures ahead of the school year. It was supposed to start at 8:45 AM but delayed after two hours.

DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones insists that classes would start as planned, saying in confidence that the distancing learning set up “will work” despite challenges.
