To ensure all frontliners have access to communication, SMART donated sim cards, load credits, and even smartphones for easier communication lines among frontliners manning the checkpoints in Metro Manila that will deliver the ease of communication among frontliners and further optimize their operations in tackling Covid-19.
Smart donated Smart and TNT SIMS along with load cards to over 1,000 AFP personnel deployed across Metro Manila. In addition, Smart also donated smartphones and load to support the PGH’s newly opened COVID-19 ward, as well as to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, the designated COVID-19 hospital in Cagayan de Oro. All these frontliners can stay connected via calls, text and mobile data.
From previous other initiatives, PLDT-SMART has previously supported the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the AFP with free Wifi, supplied LTE pocket Wifi units for buses deployed by DOTr, supplied Wifi kits to the AFP to augment the unit’s command and control requirements, donated e-load to the Department of Health (DOH) personnel, and even donated smartphones with inserted SMART SIMs coupled with one month free unlimited calls and text plus data allocation for the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM)’s emergency communication hub as well.
In addition to this, PLDT, Smart and ePLDT partnered with the DOH and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has also developed COVID-19 emergency hotlines for Filipinos seeking consultation and forwarding concerns about the disease.
