Senator Grace Poe urged telecommunications companies (telcos) to identify the government regulators who contribute to the delays and inefficiencies of their services, pointing out that the Duterte administration should not corner telcos for failing to improve.
“We are not saying that telcos are not entirely liable. If the issue is really about the issuance of permits, telcos should have spoken up and revealed who are these people giving them a hard time,” said Poe.
Poe called out to local government officials not to pressure the telcos amid the COVID-19 crisis. Senator Panfilo Lacson expressed the same sentiment, stressing that President Rodrigo Duterte should also issue a warning against LGU officials who are allegedly extorting money from telcos in exchange for permits.
