The Philippine National Police (PNP) directed its Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to procure a list of the recently deleted Facebook accounts linked to the police organization for further investigation.

PNP Spokesman Ysmael Yu said they are only waiting for the list from the ACG and the Information Technology Management System (ITMS).

Yu reasoned that investigating the matter is useful in improving the institution’s existing social media policies, and sharing of information and updates on the police force’s activities.

“What we want to do is to continue reaching out to the people we serve and protect through the good works and peace and order plans we have for them through social media,” the PNP official said.

He added that the PNP leadership will never permit inappropriate behavior coming from its personnel on social media.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier criticized Facebook for removing accounts and pages owned by the police and military that advocate peace and order due to “coordinated inauthentic behavior.”
