Online registration for the Philippine national ID (PhilSys) is going live by the end of April.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), a total of over 30 million Filipinos have accomplished Step 1 of PhilSys registration so far, with 2.6 million registrations completed this year.
Citizens who haven’t registered can proceed to Step 1 of registration via an online portal, which will go live by April 30.
There are three simple steps to complete the registration:
- Collection of demographic information
- Appointment setting for step 2
- Capturing biometric information
- Validation of supporting documents
- Issuance of PSN and PhilID
Collecting demographic information includes name, sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, and address. There are some optional information to fill up at registrants’ dispense, such as marital status, cell phone number, and email address.
Applicants must go to their chosen registration centers physically to take their biometric information and validate supporting documents. Afterwards, the PSN and PhilID will be delivered to the applicant through PHLPost.
The Philippine national ID or PhilSys establishes an all-in-one identification system for all citizens and resident aliens nationwide to remove redundant government IDs. The PhilSys was issued and signed by President Duterte as a Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act.
