The National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19 is now considering Internet shops as learning spots for minor students who cannot afford to buy gadgets and have no access to a decent Internet connection to support distance learning.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary and NTF Vice Chairman Eduardo Año said they would submit the proposal to the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of the Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Joint Task Force COVID Commander Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar noted that the existing set of guidelines does not allow minors from entering business establishments, including Internet shops, as part of health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eleazar added that they will wait for the decision of the IATF-EID on the proposal and will ensure that health protocols are “strictly implemented.”
