The renowned eSports organization in Southeast Asia, Mineski Global, in collaboration with Moonton Games, wrapped up Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League’s (MPL) fifth season with the highest record viewership yet in the Philippines.
MPL-Philippines’ fifth season got an online viewer count of 317,330 for the finals match between OnicPH and Sunsparks, showing the potential of eSports to be a big part of sports entertainment amid the new normal.
“I’m very proud of our Mineski Esports Philippines and Indonesia teams for pulling off five seasons of the MPL with flying colors, all while setting records in terms of viewership for esports tournaments in Southeast Asia,” said Mineski Global CEO and founder, Ronald Robins.
So far, team Sunsparks took the lead for the first time as a back-to-back titlist in the Philippine region, earning a prize of PHP 1,258,000.
The team consisted of Allen Jedric “Greed_” Baloy, Kiel VJ Hernandez “Kielvj” Cruzem, Ashley Marco “Killuash” Cruz, Christian Provido “Rafflesia” Fajura, Jaypee Gonzales “Jaypee” Dela Cruz, Renz Errol “Renzio” Salonga Cadua, Rizzi Joy Pardiñas (manager), and Michael Angelo Bocado (coach).
The next MPL will re-open in July this year 2020.
