With the recent submission to the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) by Apple, an indication suggests there will be a folding-screen iPhone coming soon.
The recent patent highlights a hinge mechanism innovation that removes risks of creasing issues mutually shared by many folding-screen devices. However, it is yet to be revealed whether said innovation is reserved for use in iPhone or other Apple devices, such as Macbook. Based on previous patents, it may not have even been a commercially available product.
One thing’s for sure, however, they’re coming up with something new, and that’s pretty much exciting enough for Apple-savvy users out there.
Folding-screen smartphones seem to be returning for another swing this new decade, from folding cellular phones to folding-screen smartphones, a new wind has blown for folding mechanism innovation technology. The revealing of Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X which were launched almost a year ago gained traction for being the founder of new folding-screen as other mobile manufacturers caught into the drift, such as Motorola’s Razr. Samsung is yet to reveal another folding-screen smartphone for its new generation, the Galaxy Z Flip that should be introduced in mid-February along with the Galaxy S20.
While the speculation of folding-screen iPhone is yet to be confirmed, iPhone 12 is sure to come soon this year, or perhaps somewhere in the fall if anyone is to guess. Even then, iPhone loyalists can only hope to expect a folding-screen model will find a place in the schedule or if not this year, perhaps it’ll be introduced in 2021.
