Filipino information technology (IT) experts have developed digital solutions to help small and medium businesses (SMBs), particularly restaurants accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT), survive and thrive in the new normal.
The DOT, along with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Talino Venture Labs, has introduced SafePass and Dine In. These two apps incorporate the technological demands of the restaurant industry to provide a COVID-free environment in dine-in operations.
SafePass is an all-digital, business scheduling, and contact tracing solution served for dining businesses to operate safely amid the pandemic.
“At the door of the establishment, just like in a rapid pass and a version of a checkpoint, the security guard can check the QR code to ensure that that person is allowed to enter the facility and that the facility has enough capacity and the visitor has attested to his health,” said Talino Venture Labs CEO Winston Damarillo.
Restaurants can utilize SafePass to schedule their business hours and plan the number of their walk-in customers and those making reservations from home.
Meanwhile, Dine In facilitates contact-free transactions. It also allows customers to present their menu digitally without the paper menu through a mobile app using a QR code.
“They can order from their table and put in their payment accounts and then the order can be facilitated and delivered,” Damarillo explained.
