The Duterte administration has allotted a budget of P21.4 billion for information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure programs that would help the government agencies digitally transform to ensure the seamless delivery of vital services for the coming year.

The budget includes P9.4 billion to support the government’s ICT expenses, P7.6 billion to fund the telecommunications infrastructure, and P903 million to back the National Broadband Plan.

With a P1.4-billion budget, the administration will also invest in digitalizing the country’s taxation system.

President Rodrigo Duterte previously said that supporting the country’s ICT infrastructure is “paramount” to provide a foundation for digital transformation in the Philippines.
