Globe Telecom has partnered with independent tower companies that will work on 900 locations across the Philippines in line with the promise to improve service quality.

“The partnerships with tower companies will greatly complement the company’s target in expanding its capacity and coverage throughout the country,” said Globe Chief Finance Officer Rizza Maniego-Eala.

Globe said in a statement that partnerships with tower builders are proceeding to the construction phase after identifying sites.

Tower builders that signed an agreement with the telco so far include Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC), ISOC-edotco, Transcend Towers Infrastructure (Philippines), CREI Philippines (CREI), and Frontier Towers & Associates (FTA).

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has urged telcos to hasten the construction of cell sites, issuing common tower policy guidelines in a bid to bolster reliable and fast connectivity in the country.

The guidelines will let telcos lease slots in these common towers, reducing the spending on infrastructure and costs shouldered by Filipino subscribers.
