With the Philippines shifting to the digital arrangement as part of the new normal caused by the pandemic, Globe went to meet the demand for better internet by expanding its 5G coverage.
By July 2020, Globe Platinum and Postpaid subscribers will get to enjoy 5G in select places of Makati and Bonifacio Global City. Globe will also reach its 5G coverage progressively to areas in Metro Manila and Prepaid customers.
After the 4G network, 5G is the next generation of wireless internet connectivity capable of transforming the way Filipinos live. Through 5G, customers can enjoy fewer lags online, load a webpage in a second, stream the latest movies and shows in ultra HD quality, and achieves clear calls and video chats.
To subscribe to 5G, customers will need a 5G-powered smartphone compatible with Globe and must be in a 5G covered area. Current Globe LTE sims already come with 5G, so the shift is smooth and hassle-free.
So far, Globe offers 5G capable devices such as Samsung S20, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, Huawei P40, and Huawei P40 Pro. The company also plans to introduce more affordable 5G capable mobile phones soon.
