In time for the World Environment Day Celebration, Globe Telecom made a commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by actively supporting the Race To Zero global campaign spearheaded by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and COP26 Presidency and backed by the GSMA.
This campaign aimed to achieve a net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions before 2050 through the collective efforts of all mobile network operators worldwide.
“We are one with global mobile operators in helping the mobile industry achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We acknowledge that this requires a collective effort to realize large-scale positive impact,” said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.
Globe has already been pursuing environmental-friendly practices through decarbonizing its operations and bettering clean energy procurement. The company has also engaged partners to implement renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and fuel cells within its operations. Globe has also been putting up tree planting and reforestation programs.
Globe continues to improve innovative means and adopt best practices to enhance energy and resource efficiency. Globe maintains its devotion to the UN Global Compact principles and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
