President Rodrigo Duterte bashed social media giant Facebook for taking down accounts and pages, describing the move as an obstruction to the government’s advocacy.

“You cannot lay down a policy for my government. I allow you to operate here. You cannot bar or prevent me from espousing the objectives of government,” said Duterte.

The president specifically referred to the removal of government accounts used to warn Filipinos against the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

Duterte’s statement came after Facebook deleted several accounts, pages, and Instagram handles linked to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) due to coordinated inauthentic behavior (CIB).

The social media giant reported that these assets originated in China. Lawyer JJ Disini pointed out that CIB aims to spread misinformation, and it is a cybercrime.
