President Rodrigo Duterte assured that the government intends to provide free Internet access in schools in line with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) blended learning program.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will provide free Internet connectivity in coordination with the education sector, the president said.

Duterte added that the free Internet access program goes in line with the DICT Memorandum on “Providing Adequate Free WiFi/Internet Access and Connectivity for Public Educational Institutions.

The president recently opposed the continuation of physical classes in schools until an effective COVID-19 vaccine emerges.
