The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) made a public advisory concerning a DSWD Facebook page requesting all Filipino citizens for their family names and respective barangays and cities who haven’t receive financial aid being “not the official Facebook page of the agency.”

DSWD made the clarification in the drastic wake of a DSWD scam post on April 29 that had already gathered 10,000 shares and 5,400 reactions on Facebook.

“DSWD encourages the public to only view official announcements or information on DSWD’s official website and social media accounts and field offices,” the department said on its official Facebook page.

The department explained that it does not ask the names of those who did not receive aid through Facebook and instead advised the public to “report to your LSWDO (local social welfare and development officer) if you haven’t received cash aid through SAP (Social Amelioration Program).”
