The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will hand out national identification cards to five million Filipinos residing in 32 provinces with little to no COVID-19 cases for the National ID system pre-registration October 9.
The prioritized provinces include Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Isabela, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Albay, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Leyte, Compostela Valley, Davao Del Norte, Davao Del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Tawi-Tawi.
The regional offices of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the DILG have already coordinated with the local government units (LGUs) of these provinces.
National ID issuances will proceed in remaining areas of the country once the initial distribution salvo in the mentioned provinces is met to ensure a safer rollout process.
The national ID system aims to integrate and interconnect dozens of redundant government IDs through institutionalizing an all-in-one national identification system.
ID details include the Philippine identification system (PhilSys) number, full name, facial image, sex, date of birth, blood type, and the concerned individual’s address.
