Computer Emergency Response Team’s (CERT) Cyber Security Philippines recently announced the public to be cautious in visiting government websites by double-checking the website addresses to avoid being taken advantaged of by online criminals.

Any Philippine government websites must bear the “gov.ph” as its domain in the website addresses. In particular, CERT warned searching for the words “NBI Clearance” as some websites bear those key words to boost their sites, but are not the legitimate websites to look for evident in its page address.

“To JOB Applicants, OFW’s, Beneficiaries, and everyone else who conducts business with the government always check if the site bears the (.GOV.PH) for any government related online clearance , document uploads, downloads or benefits processing,” it said in its Facebook post.

Cyberattacks has skyrocketed since the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic, ranging from online scams to online child abuse.
