The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) formed a special task force to ensure that telecommunications companies (telcos) and local government units (LGUs) follow the implementation of streamlined permitting processes for cell tower construction. The task force will be responsible for determining the key areas where cell towers will rise.
“Alin ba diyan priority areas kasi meron kaming datos from DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) na map out nila. Sila yung may mga projects, we would be speaking with them, unahin muna natin yung mga critical areas na dapat natin tayuan,” said ARTA Director-General Jeremiah Belgica.
The establishment of the special body followed the telcos’ complaints of having difficulties securing cell tower permits from local government officials due to red tape and the number of requirements needed to set up a single tower.
