If the reports are anything to go by, the latest software beta of the Apple TV OS is hinting a new unannounced hardware. Three years after Apple announced the first-ever 4K version 5th-gen Apple TV, the company launched a tvOS developer beta that contains references to a new Apple TV product.
Codename ‘T1125’, the letter ‘T’ at the start suggests suggests “that it’s an internal model, probably a prototype that hasn’t been completely finished yet,” according to 9to5Mac. “The current Apple TV 4K is named ‘J105a’ and the HD model is ‘J42d’.”
Although little is known about T1125, many suggested that it uses the same hardware that can be found in the A12 and A13 Bionic chips; the said fifth-generation model Apple TV only uses A10 Fusion processor.
The chip update will provide performance refinement of the device, especially when used in gaming on the Apple Arcade platform that was launched last year.
There was no response by the company regarding on the launch of a new-generation Apple TV, however, it’s speculated that the new product may make itself known at the spring hardware Apple Event this 2020.
